Brain to eyes. Do you read me eyes? Read!\u201d Your brain gives your eyes this order and prepares to receive information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFar down in the forest \u2013 down \u2013 the forest \u2013 in \u2013 where the warm sun \u2013 where \u2013 sun \u2013 warm \u2026\u201d The eyes respond dutifully.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWait, wait!\u201d interrupts the brain, \u201cWhat\u2019s going on over there? I don\u2019t understand a word you\u2019re saying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2026 and the fresh air \u2013 fresh \u2013 made \u2026\u201d they eyes continue to stammer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cStop! What are you doing? You\u2019re jumping all over the place! I can&#8217;t make sense of that mess!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As the eyes prepare to soldier on, the brain makes an executive decision. It starts to ignore the messages it\u2019s receiving from the eyes and finds another, more tractable problem to work on: for example, the question of which workout program to use to get ready in time for bathing suit season &#8230; resulting in mind wandering instead of reading comprehension!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It\u2019s amazing how much of a mess our lack of ability to read fluidly can make of even the most beautiful pieces of literature. Hans Christian Andersen put so much work into crafting this beautiful story \u2013 and we turn it into a meaningless jumble of words just by letting our eyes jump back to what we\u2019ve already read. This bad habit is called making regressions.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speed reading effortlessly<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It\u2019s a shame, isn\u2019t it? But don\u2019t worry, with some practice, you can train your eyes not to do this. Reading without regressions help you to follow along with the author, to effortlessly understand the meaning of the text \u2013 and to really enjoy what you\u2019re reading.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Why do Swedish people learn this effortlessly and why are Swedes better readers?
